Searlait is a writer and photographer whose work focuses on people and their habitats; the physical and emotional worlds that encompass us.

Her writing is usually autofictive, exploring the interconnections within memory, interior and external worlds, reality, identity and trauma. Searlait’s writing is developed through environmental markers that celebrate a relationship to ecological spaces, despite the sociopolitical and Anthropological problems of climate crisis in the 21st Century.

Searlait was raised in a conservative Protestant faith, but now follows an animist spiritual tradition with influences from many sacred texts and non-religions, some of which act as influences on her creative works.

She takes creative, editorial and photographic commissions on a limited basis, by enquiry.

Born and living in Lismore, Bundjalung country on the north-eastern coast of Australia.

Searlait works professionally in writing, research, editing, creative development and photography.
